She began her academic journey at the Accra Royal Primary and Middle Schools. She later moved to Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School, where she obtained her GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate in 1967, and subsequently attended Aburi Girls’ Secondary School, where she earned her GCE Advanced Level Certificate in 1969. Her professional ascent began shortly after her call to the bar, serving as an Assistant State Attorney from 1975 to 1976 before moving into the corporate sector as the Claims Manageress for Zenith Assurance until 1981. Justice Akoto-Bamfo transitioned to the bench in 1981 as a District Magistrate Grade 1, marking the start of a historic steady climb through every tier of the Ghanaian judiciary. Over the following years, she served with distinction as a Circuit Judge from 1986 to 1992, a Justice of the High Court from 1992 to 1999, and a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 1999 to 2009.
