WHO WE ARE
The Council of State in Ghana is a body of prominent citizens, analogous to the Council of Elders in the traditional political system, which advises the President on national issues
"It is clear that we must find an African solution to our problems, and that this can only be found in African unity. Divided we are weak; united, Africa could become one of the greatest forces for good in the world."
"Democracy is not realized merely by having a machinery for registering voters and getting them to vote every four years, but also by there being a machinery for identifying the needs of those voters in between the election periods, and monitoring the realization of those needs."
"Education, particularly higher education, will take Africa into the mainstream of globalization."
"As a people, our greatest achievements have come when we have lived up to the ideals that unite rather than divide us and have attached ourselves to a common-sense purpose. Let this day not just see us enjoying just the holiday part of it; let us find time to reflect on the way forward as we strive to build a Better Ghana. We must reflect on the legacies that our forebears bequeathed to us; consider what we have added to that legacy, and commit ourselves to leave a solid legacy for the generations after us."
"With the kinds of progress we’re seeing in Africa, we have people who have a very high expectation, and often people think that you know, things would happen overnight. But I want people to understand that sometimes it even gets worse before it gets better."
"I am in an excellent position of being the first Ghanaian leader to be able to draw some experience from the three living former presidents."
