H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple (Togbui Nyaxorladeakorla I) is a public servant, entrepreneur, farmer, and development advocate with experience spanning public administration, political leadership, private sector development, and community service. He is married to Mrs. Patricia Awoonor and they are blessed with four children.
He was born in Weta in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, where he began his early education. He proceeded to Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon, where he built a strong foundation in discipline, leadership, and academic excellence. He later pursued tertiary education at the University of Ghana, Legon, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with History, which deepened his understanding of governance, public policy, and socio-economic development.To strengthen his professional and managerial capacity, he undertook advanced training in project management and development finance, earning an International Executive MBA in Project Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management. He also obtained an International Certificate in Public-Private Partnership from Cited, Kenya, further equipping him with practical expertise in infrastructure delivery, investment structuring, and public- private collaboration. In addition, his academic and professional exposure has included engagements and training experiences in France, Kenya, and the United States of America, contributing to a broad global perspective on leadership and development.
H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple began his professional career in public service at the Ministry of Transport, where he served as a Civil Servant and gained hands-on experience in policy implementation and public sector administration. He subsequently worked at the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Interior, where he contributed to sectoral coordination, programme implementation, and service delivery within the public sector.
Alongside his public service career, he established himself as an entrepreneur and agribusiness man. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Sesi-Edem Company Limited, TK Realties, and the Sesi-Edem Football Academy, with business interests in agriculture, real estate development, and youth and sports development.
His political career has been marked by active leadership within the National Democratic Congress. He was a two-time Parliamentary Candidate for the Ketu North Constituency and currently served on the National Welfare Committee of the party, as well as other regional party structures, contributing to party organisation, welfare administration, and grassroots mobilisation.
He currently represents the Volta Region on the Council of State of the Republic of Ghana, where he serves on the Social and Economic Development Committee, the House AffairsCommittee, among other assignments, and advises the President of the Republic on matters of national importance. His work on the Council reflects a focus on inclusive development, infrastructure oversight, investment promotion, and regional equity.
In addition to his public and private sector roles, he is the founder of the Tanko Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting children, women, farmers, and vulnerable communities through interventions in education, healthcare, social welfare, and economic empowerment.
