Hon. Tongraan Kugblisong Nanlebegtang

Tongraan Kugbilsong Nanlebegtang was born on November 1, 1953, in Ghana’s Upper East Region. He received his technical education at Tamale Technical School in 1971, and from 1973 to 1975, he attended Kpandu Technical School, where he obtained the basic engineering intermediate, city and guilds, and metal machining city and guilds certificates.

In 1979, he received certificates in mechanical engineering technical parts 1&2&3 from Accra Polytechnic, now Accra Technical University.
In 1980, he also received a Full Technological Certificate (Eng. Prod.) from Accra Polytechnic. In 2006, he completed his master’s degree at the University of Cape Coast and was awarded a Master of Arts (Environmental Mgt. & Policy)

He graduated from the Afro-Asian Institute of Labor and Cooperative Studies in Tel-Aviv, Israel, with a diploma in cooperatives, labor/industrial relations. He also holds a certificate in occupational health and safety management from the British Safety Council- Brunell (University Campus Uxbridge, U.K).

He worked his way up from Assistant Plant and Equipment Inspector to Risk and Insurance Manager at Tema Oil Refiner (TOR). He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Ghana Institute of Incorporated Engineers (GIIE), formerly the Ghana Institution of Technical Engineers (GHITE), and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM) in the United Kingdom, to name a few.

He has held numerous political positions, including membership on the National Defence Committee/Interim National Coordinating Committee (NCC of the PNDC regime) from 1982 to 1983 . He is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

He is the Upper East Region’s Council of State representative.
